Despite Chalyela’s success at keeping her kingdom safe,
foreign dignitaries from other lands were beginning to whisper among themselves
about her lineage.
While they could not question her ability to rule, they
focused on her right to rule. They asked
themselves how someone with no royal lineage and no family crest to display
could be allowed to reign over a kingdom. Especially a kingdom in a land as
desirable as Archolia.
Chalyela is very aware that the foreign dignitaries are beginning to
question her right to the crown.
She refuses to allow her reign to be ridiculed.
With no way to show that her family has a royal past, the best she can do
is look the part. Chalyela has a new
gown made especially for this occasion.
Still, she knows that this is not enough.
It is just a matter of time because the whispers become shouts and one of
the dignitaries will eventually attempt to overthrow her. After all, Archolia is a very desirable land.
Her royal advisor Kenna is always great during times like this. Chalyela decides to seek Kenna’s advice.
First, she summons Justinian the servant to prepare her meal.
Then she approaches her royal advisor.
“There have been whispers among the dignitaries about my family lineage
and my right to the crown,” Chalyela begins.
“I know of no royal blood in my family history. What do you advise that I
do about this issue?” Chalyela asks.
“Well, M’Lady, do we ever truly know our whole family history? Try sending a pigeon to one of your relatives
and ask for your family crest. I would
bet that you do indeed have royalty running through your veins as suggested by
your superb leadership,” Advisor Kenna answers.
“I believe that you are right Advisor Kenna. I was once told that I might have a long lost
aunt who is indeed a duchess. I will try
to locate her for my family crest,” Chalyela answers; pleased with Kenna’s advice.
Chalyela attempts to recall the stories father told her about her Great
Aunt Beverly who married a Duke at a young age.
This title is only given to those of nobility. Perhaps her aunt holds the family coat of
arms.
She silently prays that she can get in touch with her aunt. If the dignitaries begin to get restless in
wondering about her right to rule, a war is sure to follow.
For now, Chalyela puts it all out of her mind so that she may enjoy her
meal.
She will send the pigeon as soon as she is done eating.
