Archolia Chapter 37 - The Knight

Now that Ivan has had the opportunity to actually see Bloodletter Gavin, he is optimistic about his chances of wooing the queen.  After all, he has youth, good looks and brute strength on his side.
He does not allow his mind to dwell on that for long.  If he hopes to have any chance with the queen, he must first eliminate this witch problem.  Ivan arrives at the town square and is alarmed to see the witch speaking with a young boy.  He must do away with this evil  being as quickly as possible.
Ivan has a strategy to lure the witch away from the town square to the forest where he plans on attacking her. “What do you say we join forces?  The two of us together can rule this whole land,” Ivan says as convincingly as possible.
“Hmm, what an interesting proposition…and from such a nice package as well,” the witch snarls.
“Let us not discuss this here.  Please follow me!” Ivan says walking away.
“No! “ the witch says immediately, “I never do any following.  You shall tail me.”
The witch begins to leave town square and Ivan follows close behind.
Once they arrive in the forest clearing, the witch promptly turns toward Ivan.  “So what do you have in mind?” She asks.
“This!” Ivan says attempting to reach for his sword…
“Not so fast!” The witch does not even bat an eye.  A few whispers under her breath…
…and Ivan finds himself deathly ill.
“Uncurse me at this moment,” Ivan says.
“Or what?”  The witch asks not at all intimidated.
“Or  you shall find your head rolling on the ground!”
“You shall wish that you had joined forces with me!” The witch says, her eyes a fiery red glow; the epitome of evil.
“Never!” Ivan says.  The witch becomes strangely calm.
Ivan’s sickness worsens.  His stomach is knotted in pain.  His leg muscles feel cramped and his head is swarming in dizziness. He limps away from the witch suddenly very afraid for his life.
The witch pulls out her shaft and begins a series of incantations.  Ivan quickens his steps as much as possible toward the forest.  He has to hide or he is sure to perish under the witch’s spells.
The witch taps the stick on the ground releasing a power that shakes the ground below her.  Ivan, already unsteady on his feet, uses all of his might to remain upright.  If he loses his balance and falls, he will die for sure.
“Ha, ha, ha!”  The witch laughs feeding off of his fear.  Ivan does not turn to look, but behind him he can feel an intense heat.  The witch turns her eyes upward and her eyes light up with a powerful glow.
The lights surges through her body; glowing brighter.  Ivan is safe within the trees.  The evil energy builds and builds, until…
The witch releases it in a purple vicious haze of  evil power.
