Archolia Chapter 4 - The Monarch

Queen Chalyela is in the process of leaving the castle for a walk along the castle grounds.  She is distracted by the good looks of Town Crier Bertram.
Being queen of a young kingdom can be quite lonely when you have no king to keep company with.
Queen Chalyela is often on the lookout for a handsome fellow to fill this void in her life.
As queen, she knows that finding a partner would be easy.  Any sane man would jump at the opportunity to be king and bed such a beautiful queen.
But Queen Chalyela is very particular about what she is looking for in a partner and father of a potential heir to her kingdom.
Town Crier Bertram has the looks, but not the mind that she is looking for in a future king, so she allows him to continue with his duties.
With a new clinic in the process of being constructed, Chalyela recognizes the potential for growth of her kingdom.  She sits down to draft a letter of hire for a new advisor.
Any wise ruler recognizes the need to have wise counsel surround them.  Chalyela seeks to surround herself with as much wisdom and experience as possible.
Queen Chalyela walks out to the castle courtyard and picks a lively messenger pigeon to deliver her letter of hire.
She securely attaches her letter and sets the pigeon off on his way.
Now that her duties have been fulfilled, she makes her way to her chambers for much needed rest.
She covers herself,  lonely, in her cold bed, longing for a king to share her space.
She goes to sleep with thoughts of marriage and children filling her dreams.
Despite her longing the night before, Queen Chalyela wakes up bright and chipper the next morning.
She sets out for a brief walk, just before dawn.  Taking in the beauty of her kingdom in the early morning energizes her.
She returns to the castle and is greeted by her new Royal Advisor Kenna.
Kenna bows deeply at Lady Chalyela’s feet, “it will be my pleasure to serve you your majesty!”
Chalyela sits down to enjoy a warm bowl of stew as Kenna familiarizes herself with the other members of Lady Chalyela’s court.
Chalyela enjoys her stew…
…but it does  not agree with her weak stomach this morning and she doubles over in pain, retching and vomiting.
Her stomach pain brings her great worry.  She decides to consult with Buildmaster Krispin on the progress of the new clinic.  She would like to have her physician in place as soon as possible.
Buildmaster Krispin assures her that progress has been made on her clinic.  Everything is on a timely schedule and she shall have her clinic very soon.  This puts Lady Chalyela’s mind at ease.
