Gavin steps away from the cauldron for a short while to regain his focus. He does not waste much time before returning. If too much time passes and word gets out that his cure has not worked, he knows that he will be doomed.
He succeeds in creating another perfect potion.
Gavin calls the first villager into the examination room. He wants to try out this new potion in privacy in case something goes wrong.
Gavin injects this experimental potion into the blood stream of the first villager.
To his delight, it works. The patient leaves the examination room appearing as if he had never seen a day of sickness in his whole life.
With confidence, Gavin injects the second villager.
She screams out in pain as the potion enters her blood stream…
But the pain is short lived. She too is completely healed.
Although logic should tell him to wait , Gavin has faith that the Watcher is guiding him. He gathers more herbs in order to create more of his experimental cure.
For the first time since moving to Archolia, Gavin’s waiting room is nearly empty. The suffering villagers have not returned.
Bloodletter Gavin works late into the night creating more of his experimental cure.
Weary and too tired to continue, Gavin prepares for bed, but not before stopping to pray thanksgiving on to the Watcher.
The next morning, Gavin sees a couple of patients, but their illnesses are minor. He quickly cures them. So far, the suffering villagers have not returned and he has not heard word of any deaths in the village. He is confident that they are both alive and well.
Gavin returns to his cauldron to create more potion to present to the queen.
He watches the contents carefully, confident that Queen Chalyela will be very pleased when she hears word of what Gavin has accomplished.
And Gavin is thrilled that he has finally found a cure to the illness that has haunted and taunted him for over a decade. He knows that his family is smiling down on him from heaven.
